Saks Incorporated - Physical Inventory Project
Saks Incorporated completely overhauled the process of taking inventory at all of their retail locations. Antares wrote a web application using ASP.NET with the MVC framework to replace the legacy mainframe screens that they had been using previously. This provided users with a much more functional and efficient graphical user interface to manage the inventory taking process within the stores.
The application interfaces with an IBM DB2 database back-end and heavily relies upon AJAX and jQuery to provide a rich end-user experience. It allows them to configure the areas within the store to be inventoried and print barcoded labels that will be affixed to the merchandise and scanned by an associate with a RF scanner.
Once the inventory process is underway, the application contains a dashboard that allows managers to easily see how far along each area is in the process. A reporting section allows reports to be viewed and either printed or exported to Excel spreadsheets.
